About us

Your app is our problem too.

KettleJix is a mobile app development company. We take on a limited number of projects at a time — few enough that when something goes wrong at 6pm on a Friday, you're talking to the person who wrote it.

Who we are

We're developers and designers who build mobile applications for iOS and Android. Rather than staffing up for volume, we keep the team small enough that the people who sat in your first meeting are the ones writing the code.

It means we're selective about what we take on, and direct about what we think will and won't work. If an idea needs less app than you assumed — or no app at all — you'll hear it from us before you've spent anything.

How we listen

We ask to talk to the people who'll actually use the app, not only the people commissioning it. Where we can, we'll watch someone do the task the way they do it today, before we design anything to replace it.

Then we write back what we heard, in your words, and ask you to correct it. Most of the expensive mistakes in this industry happen because nobody did that.

What we hold ourselves to

Ownership, stated plainly enough to hold us to it.

These are commitments, not adjectives. If we break one, tell us — and hold us to fixing it.

Our bugs are our cost

If we built it wrong, we fix it on our time. You pay for changes of mind, not for our mistakes.

Fixed scope, stated price

You get the number before we start. If scope changes, we re-quote in writing rather than quietly billing more.

You own everything

Source code, design files, store accounts and infrastructure are in your name from day one — not handed over at the end if all goes well.

Working builds, not status reports

Progress is something you can tap on your own phone. If you can't use it yet, we don't claim it's done.

We'll argue with you

If we think a feature will hurt your users, we'll say so and explain why. Then it's your call, and we'll build it properly either way.

We answer after launch

Same team, same people. No handover to a support queue that has never seen your code.

Work with us

Start by telling us what's not working.

No pitch deck required. A description of the problem, and who has it, is enough for a first conversation.
